I like summer. I like hot weather and I like the sun despite the fact that my 100% Northern European heritage means I can’t be in the sun longer than five minutes without wearing SPF 1,000 or something ridiculous. Also I’ve thus far managed to avoid becoming a real adult so summer also means a lot of time for extra naps and sleeping in. However, summer is rather depressing in terms of entertainment options, and while I appreciate the fact that my job here is getting progressively easier as we move into summer, I feel bad that there’s really not much in the way of good television. Here are the offerings for Wednesday night:
8:00pm: “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox
“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” on TBS
“NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Game #3” on Versus Network. Special presentation.
“Web Soup” on G4
“Weird or What?” on Discovery
8:30pm: “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” on TBS
9:00pm: “America’s Got Talent” on NBC
“Are We There Yet” on TBS. Series premiere. This is, indeed, based off those awful movies starring Ice Cube. Mr.Cube does not appear to be involved with the TV series. I guess he managed to retain some small amount of self respect.
“Dog the Bounty Hunter” on A&E. New Time Slot.
“Ghost Hunter’s Academy” on SyFy
“Mythbusters” on Discovery
9:30pm: “Are We There Yet” on TBS
“Dog the Bounty Hunter” on A&E
10:00pm: “Billy the Exterminator” on A&E
“Clean House” on Style Network
“Happy Town” on ABC
“In Plain Sight” on USA
“Peep Show” on BBCA
“The Real World/Road Rules Challenge” on MTV
“Sunset Daze” on WE
“Toddlers and Tiaras” on TLC. Third season finale.
“Top Chef Masters” on Bravo
“Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns” on TBS. New time slot.
“Worst Case Scenario” on Discovery. I’m so happy that Bear Grylls has found a more suitable outlet for his talents. Most of what he did on “Man Vs. Wild” was simply impractical for anyone who wasn’t Bear Grylls and he frequently deliberately made a bad situation worse for demonstration purposes. I still haven’t watched to see how he manages to incorporate frequent nudity, but I’m confident in his abilities.
Late Night Listings
“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Evangeline Lilly, Charlyne Yi, LaRaf
“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Morgan Freeman
“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Lisa Miller
