The Daytime Emmys are on tonight which got me thinking about soap operas. I’ve never seen more than five minutes of one, but mostly I just wondered who watches them these days? I believe they were originally aimed at women who were home makers but that’s less financially feasible for most families now so… what’s the audience? Nursing home residents? College students who have schedules allowing them a mid-day nap break? Do any of you watch soap operas? If so, please let me know how you manage that. I’m not going to ask why you do, because as someone who still watches “Grey’s Anatomy” I probably understand your reasons better than I’d like to admit. Here’s your Sunday night TV:
8:00pm: “The 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” on CBS
“Coal” on Spike TV. First season finale.
“Jerseylicious” on Style
“Mob Wives” on VH1
“Sand Masters” on Travel
“Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes” on OWN
9:00pm: “Audrina” on VH1. First season finale.
“Bridezillas” on WE
“Drop Dead Diva” on Lifetime. Third season premiere.
“Falling Skies” on TNT. Two hour series premiere.
“Finding Sarah” on OWN
“Game of Thrones” on HBO. First season finale. Good time for you new fans to start reading the books! Or not. I won’t judge.
“The Glee Project” on Oxygen
“Ice Road Truckers” on History
“Law and Order: Criminal Intent” on USA
“Masterpiece: Poirot XI” on PBS
“2011 Miss USA Pageant” on NBC
“William and Kate: Royal Baby Watch?” on TLC. Oh for fucks sake, really?!? And it’s not just Kate, I hate the obsession with female celebrities reproductive abilities overall. It’s a good thing I’m not famous because I’d end up taking an assault rifle to TMZ after the third time someone put a ‘bump watch’ on me because I felt like having a bacon cheeseburger/chocolate shake/taco bell for lunch.
9:30pm: “Saddle Ranch” on VH1
10:00pm: “Amsale Girls” on WE
“Freaky Eaters” on TLC
“The Glades” on A&E
“In Plain Sight” on USA
“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” on E
“The Killing” on AMC. First season finale. I haven’t watched this in a couple weeks but I probably will tonight just to see how it wraps up. Because I’m a bad person like that.
“The Protector” on Lifetime
“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” on Bravo
“The Real L Word” on Showtime
“Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals” on OWN. Series premiere.
“Saddle Ranch” on VH1. First season finale.
“Treme” on HBO
10:30pm: “Ice Loves Coco” on E
11:00pm: “Watch What Happens” on Bravo
11:45pm: “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” on Adult Swim
