Betty White’s new show is premiering tonight and it’s a nice opportunity to discuss the reasons why having Betty White as a cultural icon is an extremely valuable thing. In addition to being hilarious and sharp as hell, Ms. White has obviously allowed herself to age in a way that’s at least close to natural which is getting more and more rare these days. Anyone who watched the Tonys the other night (all four of you) were treated to the lovely Raquel Welch and her lovely, completely immobile and super creepy forehead. I kind of like having a star around who is older than both my grandmothers and looks it. Here’s what’s on TV tonight:
8:00 p.m.: “CBS Special: TV’s Greatest Surprises: A Paley Center for Media Special” on CBS. 90 minute special presentation.
“So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox.
9:00 p.m.: “America’s Got Talent” on NBC.
“Are We There Yet?” on TBS.
“Dog the Bounty Hunter” on A&E.
“Ghost Hunters Academy” on SyFy.
“I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on TLC. I swear this show must be sponsored entirely by Clear Blue Easy One Step Pee Strips or whatever they’re called. I’m pretty sure any pre-menopausal woman who has ever had sex has an urge to go out and buy a few pregnancy tests after watching any episode of this show.
“Man vs. Food” on Travel.
“Most Daring” on TruTV.
“Mythbusters: Mythbusters Top 25 Moments” on Discovery. Special two hour presentation. I swear if the Creamer Cannon of Death doesn’t get a feature there is no justice in the world. That shit was INSANE and has put me off non-dairy creamer forever.
“Great Performances: La Danse: Le Ballet de L’Opera de Paris” on PBS..
“Top Chef” on Bravo. Seventh season premiere.
“You’re Cut Off” on VH1.
9:30 p.m.: “Dog the Bounty Hunter” on A&E. I think in this one that chick who’s been in labor for the last month judging by the commercials finally has her baby. I could be wrong though.
“G4 Special Presentation: E3 2010 Live” on G4. Special presentation.
“I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on TLC.
“Man vs. Food” on Travel.
10:00 p.m.: “Bert the Conquerer” on Travel. Series premiere.
“Billy the Exterminator” on A&E.
“Bridal Bootcamp” on VH1.
“Happy Town” on ABC.
“Hot in Cleveland” on TV Land. Series premiere.
“In Plain Sight” on USA.
“Peep Show” on BBCA.
“Through the Wormhole With Morgan Freeman” on Science.
“Toddlers and Tiaras” on TLC.
“The Ultimate Fighter” on Spike TV.
“Work of Art: The Next Great Artist” on Bravo. Time slot premiere.
