Pajiba After Dark: When Marc Anthony is a Selling Point, There's a Problem

There’s an interesting situation on late night TV tonight that I can’t recall ever seeing before; the same actor is on two shows in one night. Jada Pinkett Smith, who must be promoting her show “Hawthorne” although for the love of god I couldn’t tell you why, is on both “Jimmy Fallon” and “Chelsea Lately.” As a reasonable person who understands how TV works, I know that all of this is pre-taped and that means that one actor can appear on two shows in one night without somehow conquering the time-space continuum, but I also thought that actors had people to make sure that shit like that didn’t happen. Either I was wrong or having a leading role on a TNT series about a take-no-shit nurse with commitment issues just doesn’t pay enough for a top shelf publicist. Here’s your Monday night TV:

8:00pm: “The Bachelorette” on ABC

“Basketball Wives” on VH1

“Carnal Innocence” on Lifetime. Original telefilm.

“2011 NHL Stanley Cup Finals, Game 6” on NBC

“The Secret Life of the American Teenager” on ABC Family

9:00pm: “American Pickers” on History

“Cake Boss” on TLC

“Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives” on Food Network

“A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrant” on HBO. Now I’m trying to think up good cannibalism jokes because if the title didn’t want me to do that it’s extremely poorly thought out. But I’m pretty sure there’s no GOOD cannibal jokes, only punny ones. Like what did they find in Jeff Dahmer’s freezer? Ben and Jerry! Seriously though, chime in with any you can think of for funsies.

“Masterchef” on Fox

“Off Limits” on Travel

“The Real Housewives of Orange County: Reunion Part 2” on Bravo

“Single Ladies” on VH1

“Switched at Birth” on ABC Family

“Unfaithful” on OWN

10:00pm: “The Dr.Laura Berman Show” on OWN

“Kate Plus 8” on TLC

“Mean & Potatoes” on Food Network

“Nurse Jackie” on Showtime

“Pawn Star$” on History

“Platinum Hit” on Bravo

“Sanctuary” on SyFy

“Teen Wolf” on MTV. This hits two valuable demographics; people with extreme 80s nostalgia who will tune in just to see if it bears any resemblance to the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie, and teenage girls who think that werewolves are like soooooo much hotter than vampires. Also, less problematic to date. Vampires can’t go out in the sun (I’m ignoring the thoughts of Ms.Meyers on this topic because she’s wrong) whereas you only have to hide your werewolf boyfriend one day every month. Logistics wise it’s werewolves all the way, which Nymphadora Tonks would happily back me up on.

“Vanished with Beth Holloway” on Lifetime

“Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition” on ABC

10:20pm: “James May’s Road Trip” on BBCA

10:30pm: “The United States of Tara” on Showtime

Late Night Listings

“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Adm. Michael Mullen, a Top Ten List presented by Betty White, and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Jason Sudeikis, Adam Levine, and Ziggy Marley

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring a demonstration of “Modern Warfare 3”, Jada Pinkett Smith, Simon Pegg, Givers and Ledisi

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Alex Prud’Homme

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Henry Kissinger

“Chelsea Lately” on E featuring Jada Pinkett Smith, Margaret Cho, Fortune Feimster, and Ross Mathews

“Conan” on TBS featuring Noah Wyle, Riley Griffiths, and Anthony Jeselnik
