Those of you who were around for my Olympics fanaticism could probably guess that I’d be watching the World Cup, and you’d be right. It is the biggest deal on TV right now on a GLOBAL level and I don’t particularly care if some Americans happen to think it’s dumb or boring. And, as I’m sure some of the lady Pajibans have noticed, soccer players have some of the best bodies in the sports world and they’re very fond of stripping off their shirts in celebration. Anyway, lucky for all of you soccer haters, the World Cup games are not taking place during American prime time hours. Here’s your Sunday night TV:
7:00 p.m.: “ABC Sports Special: Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” on ABC. Special presentation.
“Dateline NBC” on NBC.
“‘Til Death” on Fox.
7:30 p.m.: “Sons of Tucson” on Fox.
“ABC Sports Special: NBA Countdown” on ABC. Special presentation.
8:00 p.m.: “Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business” on VH1. New episode at a special time.
“CBS Special: The 64th Annual Tony Awards” on CBS. Three hour special presentation. I am absolutely not up on the theater world this year, but I might watch this. I just like awards shows, OK?
“Sunday Best” on BET.
“ABC Sports Special: NBA Finals, Game 5” on ABC. Special presentation.
9:00 p.m.: “Behind the Music: Christina Aguilera” on VH1. One hour special presentation.
“Discovery Special: 25 Years of Discovery” on Discovery. One hour special presentation. Huh, the Discovery Channel is one year older than me. This could be kind of interesting or, like much of the current Discovery programming, it could be a jumble of “Mythbusters,” “Dirty Jobs,” and “Deadliest Catch” clips.
“Drop Dead Diva” on Lifetime.
“Ice Road Truckers” on History.
“The Next Food Network Star” on Food.
“TLC Special: Extreme Poodles” on TLC. One hour special presentation. I’m intrigued, bewildered, and a tiny bit appalled all at the same time. That feeling is so specific to TLC’s programming, I think I should figure out a way to name it after them.
“True Blood” on HBO. Third season premiere. This show is one of the few that makes me sad that I don’t have HBO.
10:00 p.m.: “Army Wives” on Lifetime.
“Atlas 4D: Hawaii” on Discovery. One hour special presenation.
“Breaking Bad” on AMC. Third season finale.
“Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami” on E!. Second season premiere.
“TLC Special: Super Pooches” on TLC. One hour special presentation.
“Treme” on HBO.
“VH1 Special: VH1 Storytellers: Christina Aguilera” on VH1. One hour special presentation. Someone’s publicity team has obviously been working overtime.
10:30 p.m.: “Holly’s World” on E!. Series premiere. When does Bridget’s show come out? I always liked her best.
