I hope those of you (Americans) who get Memorial day weekend off have lovely plans this weekend for picnics, grilling, bbqs, pool time, beach time, or maybe just shutting all your curtains turning your phone off and getting some sleep. Really, it’s all about what you consider fun. It’s also the official beginning of summer, which means nothing to me because it’s been hot and humid for about the last month and before that the temperature hasn’t gotten below the 70’s since February. Still! For those of you who get to see this weekend as the weekend that reminds you that your world will slowly thaw and warm and bloom again, I hope you have a blast with that. And that all of us take a few moments to remember the soldiers this holiday is dedicated to and the recent victims of tornados who aren’t going to be planning parties for a long time. Here’s your Thursday night TV:
8:00pm: “How To Die in Oregon” on HBO
“So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox. Two hour eighth season premiere. It’s the first two rounds of auditions from Atlanta and the Bay Area. I know a bunch of you out there are absolutely thrilled
8:30pm: “NBA PLayoffs: Miami at Chicago, Game 5” on TNT.
9:00pm: “The First 48” on A&E
“Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside” on MTV. Most of you know that I’m a Lady Gaga fan, but I think she’s best when all the attention isn’t on her. I loved her on SNL (particularly her brief acoustic performance of “Edge of Glory”) but when she does interviews it’s very clear that she has a single message she wants to stick to and I could get the same overall impression by randomly throwing the words “unique” “acceptance” “love” “little monsters” and “art” into any paragraph, mad-libs style. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it means I’m not super interested in reading or watching every interview or special she does but I’ll keep buying her albums. Paws up!
“Police Women” on TLC
“Swamp People” on History
10:00pm: “24 Hour Restaurant Battle” on Food Network
“Manhunters” on A&E
“Mounted in Alaska” on History
“Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV
“The Real Housewives of New York City” on Bravo
“Swords: Life on the Line” on Discovery
10:30pm: “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” on Showtime. Series finale.
11:00pm: “Gigolos” on Showtime. First season finale.
