What is up with NBC? I can’t think of a really good programming decision they’ve made so far in 2010 and it’s already March. First there was the whole late night wars debacle, which was stretched out so far that no matter what they did the whole mess would be tainted in viewer’s minds, then the Olympics were time delayed for the West Coast viewers when they were actually taking place on West Coast time, after advertising the Nickelback/Avril Lavigne circle of hell for the whole last week of the Olympics they cut the closing ceremony feed before either of them performed for Jerry Seinfeld’s newest vanity project, and tonight holds a few new missteps that I will be pointing out. It doesn’t have any special impact on me because I’m pretty sure there’s only one or two shows I actually watch on NBC, but as an outside observer most of these decisions are simply baffling. Anyway, here’s your Thursday night TV:
8:00pm: “American Idol” on Fox. New episode on a special night.
“Community” on NBC
“Too Many Babies?” on Health. I thought the Duggars had an exclusive deal with TLC?
“Survivor” on CBS
8:30pm: “Parks and Recreation” on NBC
9:00pm: “CSI” on CBS
“Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC
“Kitchen Nightmares” on Fox. New episode on a special night.
“The Office” on NBC. Back to back new episodes especially for the birth of Pam and Jim’s baby which has been teased by NBC since February 12th. I don’t know why they didn’t just make one hour long episode, but I guess that’s one of the many reasons I don’t make television shows; I keep trying to make things simpler. Not Windows 7 simpler, actually simpler. By their track record, I’m going to bet that the baby doesn’t actually show up until two weeks from now.
10:00pm: “Ace of Cakes” on Food Network
“Archer” on FX
“Burn Notice” on USA. Third season finale.
“Celebrity Rehab with Dr.Drew” on VH1. Third season finale.
“LA Ink” on TLC
“The Marriage Ref” on NBC. Official series premiere, cause that first showing totally didn’t count.
“The Mentalist” on CBS
“Project Runway” on Lifetime. They have to make outfits out of stuff found in a hardware store. I feel like lighting a candle for those poor models.
“Private Practice” on ABC
“Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” on Bravo. Fifth season finale. I find these shows baffling. It’s completely alien to me that anyone would be that entranced by watching other people live their lives. I don’t care about other people if I don’t know them. Is that something wrong with me? Actually, don’t answer that question, I’d probably be happier if I didn’t know.
