Like This, But With More Cuban Food and Less Culture

It rained a lot today, which is not totally surprising since Spring is usually pretty rainy in most places, but it highlighted one of the things about Miami that’s always confused me; the city is located in a sub-tropical (read: really damn wet) climate area, and has uniformly terrible drainage. There were huge puddles everywhere today, and I counted at least three that were probably more than half a foot deep at their deepest in parking lots and one right on the side of a major road. There’s canals, streams, small lakes and/or ponds EVERYWHERE, it seems like it shouldn’t be that difficult to direct the water towards one. But I guess the puddles are really just preparation for when Al Gore’s doomsday scenario comes true and the whole city ends up under three feet of water and turns into the US’s answer to Venice. Only way less pretty and much dirtier. I’ll begin practicing my punting (as in the small boat, not the kicking of an American football through a goal post) skills post haste. Here’s Monday night’s TV:

8:00pm: “10 Things I Hate About You” on ABC Family. Second season premiere. I understand that this is not a terrible show, but it still feels like a travesty to me. Then again, watching the original “10 Things I Hate About You” was a seminal moment in my young adult life, so I guess I’m biased.

“Chuck” on NBC

“Dancing With the Stars” on ABC

“The International Sexy Ladies Show” on G4. I officially don’t get G4, so if someone who does could watch maybe five minutes and report back what, exactly, is happening on this show, I’d really appreciate it. It’s like an itch I can’t scratch.

“Life Unexpected” on The CW

8:30pm: “Rules of Engagement” on CBS

9:00pm: “24” on Fox

“Celebrity Fit Club” on VH1

“Gossip Girl” on The CW

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” on Logo

“Trauma” on NBC

10:00pm: “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” on Travel. Episode title indicates he’s headed to the central highlands of Vietnam this week.

“Castle” on ABC

“Damages” on FX

“Greek” on ABC Family. Third season finale.

“Kell on Earth” on Bravo. First season finale.

“Law and Order” on NBC

“Nurse Jackie” on Showtime. I hear about all these wonderful new shows the premium cable channels are running and then mope for hours because I don’t have premium cable channels. I wish more would do like Starz is with “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” and have them available through Netflix Instant Play. Also, y’all should totally go watch “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” because it’s getting INSANE. It really improved leaps and bounds from the premiere.

“Pawn Star$” on History. Third season premiere. Why this is on the History channel is beyond me.

“The Price of Beauty” on VH1. The gang goes to India this week. I am placing my bet right now that skin bleaching cream gets a major feature.

“Saving Grace” on TNT. Fourth season premiere.

And a new section, by special commenter request:

“The Late Show With David Letterman” on CBS features Robin Williams, Paige Mills of “American Idol” and Usher.

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC features Lauren Graham, Karl Rove, and Joss Stone.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC features Elizabeth Mitchell, Liam Hemsworth, and Kevin Nealon.

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS features Joel McHale and Ben McKenzie.

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC features Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Morrison, and Julian Casablancas.
