I Know, Honey, I'm Shocked Too

The Grammys are on tonight, which gives us all another chance to realize that when it comes to certain genres of music the Academy of Recording Sciences has no credibility anymore. However, I will grant that Ke$ha managed to have one of the best selling albums of the year (WHY?!?) and did not receive any Grammy nominations so there’s a slim chance someone is paying attention. Not the programming director, though, who decided to schedule the divine Janelle Monáe to perform on stage with Bruno Mars and B.o.B. (tangentially: that individual’s name always makes me think of Outkat’s “B.O.B” and then I get excited and then super disappointed in a split second. That kind of emotional whiplash is good for no one.) I’ll be watching, though I can’t promise I’ll be in a good mood about it. Here’s your Sunday night TV:

7:00pm: “60 Minutes” on CBS

“America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC

“Dateline NBC” on NBC

7:30pm: “American Dad” on Fox

8:00pm: “Basketball Wives” on VH1

“British Academy Film Awards” on BBCA. The results are already online, but in case you watch awards shows for some reason other than see who wins, here’s your chance.

“Brick City” on Sundance

“The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards” on CBS

“Extreme Makeover” on ABC

“Food Network Challenge: Best in Show Cakes” on Food Network

“Nature: The Himalayas” on PBS

“Oprah Presents Master Class” on OWN. Condoleezza Rice is on tonight and I’m still waiting for her to snap and call out everyone in the Bush administration. There’s just this simmering layer of resentment every time she talks about them, and after Rumsfeld just publicly criticized her it’s bound to bubble over soon.

“The Simpsons” on Fox

8:30pm: “Bob’s Burgers” on Fox

9:00pm: “Ax Men” on History

“Big Love” on HBO

“Californication” on Showtime

“Desperate Housewives” on ABC

“Family Guy” on Fox

“Masterpiece!: Any Human Heart” on PBS

“The Queen” on TLC

“What Chilli Wants” on VH1

“Worst Cooks in America” on Food Network

9:30pm: “Brandy and Ray J” on VH1

“The Cleveland Show” on Fox

“Episodes” on Showtime

10:00pm: “Iron Chef America” on Food Network

“Kourtney and Kim Take New York” on E

“Las Vegas Jailhouse” on TruTV

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” on Bravo

“Shameless” on Showtime. I had never heard of this, so I did some digging and apparently it’s an American version of a British show (bad sign) on showtime (ambivalent) starring William H. Macy (…I’m listening), Emmy Rossum, Justin Chatwin, and Joan Cusack (mixed). Any of you with Showtime watching this? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

“Brothers and Sisters” on ABC

10:30pm: “Holly’s World” on E

“Digital Media: New Learners of the 21st Century” on PBS
