A quick note before we got on with tonight’s highlights: After crapping on “Glee,” all week, I’m happy to say that last night’s episode was a nice return to form. The presence of Kristin Chenoweth certainly didn’t hurt. I did not, however, appreciate the use of Hall & Oates — (500) Days of Summer still owns the nostalgic value to “Makin’ My Dreams Come True.”
Here are tonight’s highlights:
8:00
— “Bones” on Fox.
— “FlashForward” on ABC. There’s been a very mixed reaction to the show, so far. I think most agree it’s a decent premise that is so far poorly executed.
— “SNL Weekend Update: Thursday” on NBC. Who’s ready for Oct. 15 and the return of “30 Rock”?
— “Survivor” on CBS. 50/50 odds says that Russell gets the boot this week. Not another villain will make it as far as Coach did. Besides, that other dude — the racist fuck who got booted from a challenge last week — he’s become the real villain.
— “The Vampire Diaries” on The CW.
8:30
— “Parks and Recreation” on NBC. I actually decided to give up on this show. There are too many good shows this season to settle for mediocrity.
9:00
— “The Office” on NBC.Why have they spent all week pimping the Jim and Pam wedding if that’s not happening until next week?
— “CSI” on CBS.
— “Fringe” on Fox.
— “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC. Can someone let me know what happened last week? I don’t want to watch the show, but I’m slightly curious as to how the events unfolded.
— “Smoking Gun Presents: The World’s Dumbest Criminal” has its sixth season premiere on TruTV.
— “Supernatural” on The CW.
9:30
— “Community,” on NBC.
10:00
— “Behind the Music: Bret Michaels” on VH1. Dude already has a VH1 reality show; now he’s featured in a documentary?
— “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on FX. Just once, just once: I’d like to see one character, even briefly, show a glimmer of humanity. Although, should one do so, the entire show may fall in on itself.
— “The Mentalist” on CBS.
— “Project Runway” on Lifetime. Oh, and apologies to anyone who tuned in to “Top Chef” last night, only to discover it was a goddamn rerun.
— “Private Practice” has its third season premiere on ABC. Man, what a bad show.
11:00
— “Models of the Runway” on Lifetime.
