Michael Clarke Duncan, the 6’5 305 pound hulking teddy bear of a man, has died of complications related to a heart attack he had two weeks ago. He was 54, which is way too young.

Duncan, who was nominated for an Oscar in his breakout role, The Green Mile, was a fascinating man. In his early life, he turned to acting after his mother refused to let him play football. Before earning his first significant acting role in Armageddon, he had worked as a ditch digger before providing his services as a bodyguard for the likes of Will Smith and The Notorious B.I.G. Bruce Willis actually helped him to land the part in The Green Mile.

Over the course of his career, Duncan has also starred in The Whole Nine Yards, Planet of the Apes, The Scorpion King and The Island, in addition to a cool guest turn on “Chuck.” He also did voice work in films and television, including The Green Lantern and Kung Fu Panda.

Duncan was dating to Omarosa Manigault, best known from the reality show, “The Apprentice.”

So long, big fella. May the afterlife have lots of leg room. You’ll sorely be missed.
