I mean, a lot of people didn’t, right? So that’s a weird headline. But Wednesday afternoon, Supernatural fans lit up Jared Padalecki’s social media accounts over the dude who did. Why? Well, take a look at this screenshot from ABC’s coverage:
The strange stunt drew out police and emergency services, who shut down adjacent Fifth Avenue, cut out windows for rescue efforts, and provided massive emergency airbags.

When news crews got up close with zoom lenses, it was clear this curious climber was not Padalecki.
Padalecki was perplexed by the attention, but took a moment to set the record straight on Facebook:
He even wished his adventurous doppelgänger well:
I would like to wish #BizarroJarpad the best of luck in climbing the Trump Tower. #??? pic.twitter.com/NsfsjLGKgm

For two and a half hours, the “Trump Tower Spider-Man” dodged police, scaling as high as the 21st floor before being detained.

But who was this mysterious khakied man? The NYPD will not release his name until charges are filed or dropped. In the meantime, CNN has discovered he’s a 19-year-old from Virginia, and has been taken to Bellevue Hospital for a psychological evaluation. The NYPD declared the climber’s motive was to meet with Donald Trump in person. For the why of that, you can check out the Youtube video posted before his perilous stunt:
Far from a protester, he urges viewers to make his video go viral, and pleads they vote for Trump this November. At the time of posting, this video already has over 890,000 views, with 10,000 dislikes and 7,000 likes. It also boasts this top comment:
