It’s Labor Day Weekend so very little is happening in the entertainment world. Oh sure, there’s the regular box office updates that mostly show that Guardians of the Galaxy is well on track to be the most popular movie of the year, but that won’t be confirmed until sometime tomorrow. So I’m sifting through chaff to find anything for you guys, so here’s the best I could come up with this morning.
Jason Diamond of Buzzfeed has written a long form piece about growing up in the neighborhoods that inspired John Hughes movies and his own experience watching them while navigating his teenage years. I mean, I know: “Ew, Buzzfeed” but when they’re not making lists of 17 Pug Faces Guaranteed to Blow Your Mind or “Which Wendy’s Commercial Are You?” quizzes they’ve produced some interesting longer essays. I don’t entirely agree with this one, I’ve never felt the kind of affinity for John Huges that Diamond and many other did, but I know that he’s made some movies that are very important to a lot of you. Enjoy!
