This week’s couch on Graham Norton featured Will Smith, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Toby Jones which made for an interesting blend of personalities and experiences. Smith and Reynolds both play off each other pretty naturally which is fun to watch. And the show definitely had a few interesting turns in the conversation. To start off with, here’s Will Smith commenting on the “#OscarSoWhite” controversy where he points out that this isn’t him attacking Hollywood, he is a member of the Academy and believes firmly in their responsibility to be a force for positive change.
Because the entire couch this episode consisted of people who were happily coupled (most of them for significant periods of time) there were some sweet conversations about relationships, keeping the spark alive, and the special kind of language that develops when you’ve been with someone for years. We also learned that not even Ryan Reynolds managed his middle school crush smoothly, and to never play golf with Catherine Zeta-Jones unless you’re very sure of your abilities and/or into public humiliation.
And speaking of learning new things, it’s now apparent that Ryan Reynolds has a backup career available to him as a movie trailer voice-over guy just in case the whole acting thing doesn’t work out for him.
