Donald Trump & Planned Parenthood: Best Friends Forever

Just this week I was saying that we (like the rest of the country) had been focusing more than a proportionate amount of hate onto Donald Trump and all of the garbage words that come out of that gaping hole in the front of his face. My point was not that we should take Trump more seriously, or not recognize the noxious trash fires that are his vocalized thoughts, but only that he’s not the only talking pile of excrement someone crammed into a suit we should be criticizing.

And apparently by making this suggestion, the universe has decided to punish me by allowing Donald Trump to say something almost kind of not 100% horrible. It’s actually in the ballpark of reasonable.

When CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked Trump if he supported Planned Parenthood, Trump responded that he would “look at the individual things they do, and maybe some of the individual things they do are good.”

I would look at the good aspects of [Planned Parenthood], and I would also look, because I’m sure they do some things properly and good and that are good for women, and I would look at that, and I would look at other aspects also. But we have to take care of women. We have to absolutely take care of women.

Okay, so he still calls Planned Parenthood a government-coddled “abortion factory,” despite Cuomo telling him that abortion procedures only make up three percent of what the group does, with no government funds allocated for that work. And this whole conversation started under the insanely patronizing banner text quote “I will be so good to women. I cherish women.” Still, it’s upsettingly surprising that someone as propaganda-based and sound-byte-centric as Trump could tell Cuomo that unlike many of his primary opponents (like noted cat scientist Marco Rubio, for one), when push comes to shove, he values a woman’s life over that of a fetus. If you can stand listening to Trump’s voice, here’s video of his surprising words:

Planned Parenthood took notice of Trump’s statements yesterday, and wanted to let the world know that in their eyes, Trump is the least garbage of all the kneejerk woman-hating garbage people running for the republican nomination. A representative told The Daily Beast,

Donald Trump seems to have realized that banning all abortions, shutting down the government, and defunding Planned Parenthood are extreme positions that are way too far outside the mainstream for even him to take. We hope that the rest of the GOP field will wake up and reconsider their extreme and unpopular positions on defunding preventive care, abortion bans, and the other economic issues that women and their families care about.
Not only did Trump say something that was only about 85% condescending molton idiocy, but I like to think that public praise from Planned Parenthood is enough to send Trump into a feverish apoplectic fit. Everyone’s a winner.
