After a long battle with cancer, Dennis Hopper has died today at his home. He was 74.

Hopper has amassed well over 200 screen credits as an actor, writer, and director since 1954. His first movie appearance was in Rebel Without a Cause and he has since become one of the most recognizable villains in film history, having been nominated for two Oscars and an Emmy. He may be best known, however, for writing, directing, and starring in the 1969 film Easy Rider. Other career highlights include True Romance, Blue Velvet, Apocalypse Now, Hoosiers, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, River’s Edge, and Speed.

It should also be noted, for the record, that Mr. Hopper was a bad ass.
