A Geek's Guide to Black Friday Sales

Black Friday is upon us! No one at Pajiba suggests that you armbar a 70-year-old woman for an off-brand TV at Wal-Mart, but there are some non-insane ways to take part in capitalism’s favorite holiday. Namely: From home, sitting in front of your computer, as you attempt to refrain from engaging as your racist relatives go off in the background. Friends, it’s not worth it! Let the following geeky retailers succor you with some sweet, sweet retail therapy instead. It’s the American way.

Her Universe
The Force is strong with female-oriented geek clothing merchant Her Universe, which offers a free BB-8 holiday pin (image here) with orders of $25+ (while supplies last). The Holiday Sale, offering up to 60% off select items, is valid through 11/29; through 11/30, there’s free US Smartpost shipping on orders of $25 and over. Franchises include Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Marvel.

ThinkGeek
Oh, you know ThinkGeek has some good Black Friday deals, including 40% off these Star Trek hoodies:

WeLoveFine
WLF has some franchise-specific discount codes on offer:
Marvel: MVFAN15 for 15% off Marvel merch; MVFAN25 for 25% off Marvel orders of $75 or more.
Star Trek: Same deal; codes are STKFAN15 and STKFAN25
My Little Pony: MLPFAN15, MLPFAN25
Cartoon Network: CNFAN15, CNFAN25
You can find more info on the WLF Facebook page.

Valve’s Steam Sale
AKA “Video game nerds don’t really need to save money, do they?” This year, Valve is ditching the flash and daily deals in favor of giving sale games a low price during the entire duration of their Exploration Sale, regardless of whether they’re on the front page. Games include: Skyrim, Half-Life 2, the Borderlands and Saints Row franchise… oh, hell, it’s a lot of games, and you should probably check them out yourself. The sale ends on December 1st at 10AM PST.

GOG.com and Greenman Gaming
If you want to stock up on old titles that you’ve been meaning to play for awhile but probably still won’t get around to for several months (I may not be a gamer, but I know how this works), GOG.com and Greenman Gaming also have sales going.

Sideshow Collectibles
Sideshow is offering up to 30% off their figures; sale ends on November 30th. Who’s going to pony up for eerily lifelike Russell Crowe or CapAss*?

*Sadly not a statue of Captain America’s butt.

Entertainment Earth
Entertainment Earth is offering up to 95% on select items, including a handful of Funko POP! vinyl figures.

PPW Toys
PPW Toys’ 20% off sale starts today and runs through Friday, Dec 4 with code PPWTOYS, in case anyone wants a Darth Tater:

Hot Topic
I know, I know! You’re not 16 and in 2005! But all tees are $10, and—shocking though this may be—not every shirt has Jack Skellington on it. Disney and Harry Potter fans, have fun.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
Crimson Peak perfumes, anyone? Make a purchase at BPAL on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday and get a free imp (aka a sample vial—they’re small, but they’ll still last you a decent amount of time) of Ploutos, which smells like “golden amber and smoky oudh with honey, patchouli, and leather.”

Black Phoenix Trading Post
BPAL’s sister site Black Phoenix Trading Post gives you a free Goblin Squirt (again, that’s a sample, not a weird fantasy sex thing) of Thrice-Ploughed Field Atmosphere Spray (“Hay absolute, honey, oats, and patchouli.”) with any purchase made on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday.

Superhero Stuff
Superhero Stuff has discounts of up to 30% on over a thousand items running through the 29th, with a free t-shirt if you spend over $75. YES.

NewEgg
NewEgg has tech deals, including those… things? Like a Segway, but without the standy-up part? Wheels with a thing between them you can stand on, like a skateboard, but not like a skateboard at all. You know. Those things.

DisneyStore.com
The Disney Store’s website has a bunch of stuff discounted for their “Magical Friday Sale,” and it’s sortable by franchise (Star Wars and Marvel included), which is pretty cool. This $9 mug, however, is unequivocally the best thing they have on offer:

I’ll take twelve.
