You Can't Stop the Beat, and Neither Can They
Apologies for missing yesterday. My internet and cable were out when I got home, and will probably stay that way until a technician visits Saturday, so for me the only thing on TV tonight is a message that says “Channel will be available shortly.” which is a lie. For the rest of you, there’s this:
Arrow on The CW at 8:00pm ET. Fifth season fall finale.
Hairspray Live! on NBC at 8:00pm ET. NBC still has the balls to put these things on live (looking at you, Fox) and this one seems particularly timely. Although I have to assume that no one is more surprised at this former John Waters film becoming a family-friendly musical broadcast on a major network than John Waters himself. I was lucky enough to meet the man while working at a semi-staged version of this show a few years ago in Baltimore, where it was being performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. During the show, he talked about the the real, local show that Hairspray was inspired by. It was very fun, he was super chatty and delightful, and I am so happy that there’s a current pop culture touchstone for Baltimore aside from The Wire. I’m actually a little sad I won’t be able to watch this live.
Criminal Minds on CBS at 9:00pm ET. 12th season fall finale.
Vikings on History at 9:00pm ET.
South Park on Comedy Central at 10:00pm ET. 20th season finale.
