What Spike TV's 'The Mist' Shares with 'Game of Thrones'
30 for 30: George Best: All By Himself on ESPN at 8:00pm ET.
Flip or Flop Atlanta on HGTV at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. I keep hearing about how my generation is “killing” businesses or social trends or whatever, and I’m really hoping the next thing we do away with is house flipping. It’s bad enough living in a housing market that has virtually no affordable small family homes (hell, greater D.C. area) but that all the homes that MIGHT be affordable as fixer-upper project homes are snatched up by house-flippers to turn them into cookie cutter show homes is infuriating.
Hooten & The Lady on The CW at 9:00pm ET.
The Mist on Spike TV at 10:00pm ET. When I was at the Con of Thrones last month, one of my favorite speakers was Paula Fairfield, who’s the sound designer for Game of Thrones and she’s now also working on this show. Her whole process of how she comes up with sounds for things that are not real was pretty fascinating and she talked a bit about working on this show too and trying to pin down the right combinations of organic and inorganic sources to get the noises right. She also talked about pinning down what visceral reaction the director wanted for the sound and how sometimes the first sound that comes to their mind is instructive not as the sound to use, but to let you know how they want it to feel. She was an amazing speaker, I’m thinking about sounds a lot more, and maybe you should watch this? I have no idea if it’s good or not, but I know the sound work is top notch.
Zoo on CBS at 10:00pm ET.
