Wednesday is Not Especially Woman-Friendly
Criminal Minds on CBS at 9:00pm ET. 10th season premiere. I finally figured out the best way to describe this show; it’s like what I end up dreaming when I fall asleep in front of Law and Order: SVU and snips of dialogue and sounds get filtered through my unconscious. Anyway, Jennifer Love Hewitt has joined the cast in the “rotating female cast member” spot so if that’s not a sign the show is ready to hang it up, I don’t know what would be.
Black-ish on ABC at 9:31pm ET. I enjoyed the first episode, even if it got a bit outright goofy here and there. I’ll be watching again. So now you know.
The Bridge on FX at 10:00pm ET. Second season finale.
Stalker on CBS at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new procedural that focuses specifically on criminals who stalk people. While stalking is a crime that needs more attention and understanding, I am a bit cynical and believe this will just be another in a line of police procedurals that seem to mostly center around the sexual assault and murder of generally white women between 20 and 30, with a healthy number of lingering shots of the corpse wearing tastefully modest matching underwear. Given that Criminal Minds and Law and Order: SVU already air on Wednesday nights and CSI is still on, it would seem that particular genre is a bit crowded at the moment.
Key & Peele on Comedy Central at 10:30pm ET.
Genevieve Burgess knows she’ll never be crime-procedural murdered because she makes sure to avoid matching underwear.
