Gotham on Fox at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. Detective Jim Gordon shows us what Gotham looked like before Batman came of age and decided to use his vast wealth to become a vigilante rather than buy some therapy!

Scorpion on CBS at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. The latest in the series of shows that like portraying “geniuses” as magical polymaths who can adapt immediately to any situation in front of them and produce completely off the wall solutions to straightforward problems. But if we admitted that IQ was a number that mostly related to potential intellectual abilities and was heavily influenced by uncontrollable environmental factors and therefore wasn’t the end-all when it came to demonstrated mental abilities then we’d be robbing literally thousands of people of absolutely meaningless bragging rights. And we can’t have that.

Sleepy Hollow on Fox at 9:00pm ET. Second season premiere. Wooooo! Ichabod and Abbie are back! Also, that header image was originally 666 pixels wide. I can’t make this stuff up.

The Blacklist on NBC at 10:00pm ET.

Forever on ABC at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere on a special night. The lovely Ioan Gruffudd as a medical examiner who dies over and over again and keeps coming back to life a few hours later. He also apparently has a limitless ability to adapt to new surroundings and technology, rather than being totally mentally overwhelmed by the vast amount of change he has seen in his lifetime.

Genevieve Burgess is super thrilled that TV is back for real.
