American Ninja Warrior on NBC at 8:00pm ET. Eighth season premiere.

Roots on Lifetime, History, and A&E at 9:00pm ET. Part 3 of 4.

The Americans on FX at 10:00pm ET.

Cleverman on Sundance at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new series based on Aboriginal mythology, but set in a dystopian world where these mythological creatures live alongside humans. It’s a joint effort between filmmakers in Australia, New Zealand, and the US. Iain Glen is in this, so if you’ve been missing Jorah lately then here’s where you can find him. Well, if you get Sundance TV. Figures that the first genuinely unique and reasonably interesting-looking sci-fi series I’ve seen ads for in a while is airing on a channel that you need ALL the cable packages to get.

The Night Shift on NBC at 10:00pm ET. Third season premiere. I write about TV five nights a week year round, but I swear you could all stump me by asking any questions about network summer replacement series. Three seasons. I would have sworn up and down that I’d never seen the name before.
