The Year of Oscar Isaac Rolls On
Ed Sheeran - Live at Wembley Stadium on NBC at 8:00pm ET. Nothing makes me feel every bit of my white privilege more painfully than hearing the Ed Sheeran cover of “Trap Queen.” Nothing. I realize this is not entirely his fault but it partly is and so I feel comfortable steering clear of him and everything he does because of it.
Show Me a Hero on HBO at 8:00pm ET. Original mini-series premiere. Has there been a lack of Oscar Isaac in your life lately? Of course there has been. You should watch this to remedy that.
Humans on AMC at 9:00pm ET. First season finale.
The Strain on FX at 10:00pm ET. This show somehow manages to look vaguely interesting in commercials yet watching more than 90 seconds of it puts me straight to sleep. I’m almost impressed by that.
The Brink on HBO at 10:30pm ET. I realize this is still kind of uneven but I will contribute to Tim Robbins’s Emmy campaign this year so at least some parts of it are succeeding. Also, it accurately represents the midway point between The West Wing and Veep that I feel most government actually operates in; mostly rampant self-interest and vice, but occasionally a genuine sense of responsibility to the nation and the world cracks through.
Genevieve Burgess just wants every good thing for Oscar Isaac and is not 100% convinced that Star Wars is that thing quite yet.
