Stop Motion Animation: The Best Way to Garner Undeserved Fondness
Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas on NBC at 8:00pm ET. One hour special presentation. This is a new animated special starring Mark Hamill as Walter, Buddy’s long lost father, and Jim Parsons as Buddy the Elf. It’s done in stop motion animation to look like the Christmas specials of the Rudolph the Reindeer era, because I guess some people find that sort of thing charming. Also, I guess this means that Jim Parsons will be able to be nominated for ANOTHER Emmy next year, as this past year he was nominated for both Big Bang Theory and The Normal Heart. Nobody loves Jim Parsons like Emmy voters love Jim Parsons.
Ascension on SyFy at 9:00pm ET.
The Voice on NBC at 9:00pm. Two hour seventh season finale.
Taco Trip on Cooking Channel at 9:30pm ET. Series premiere. A new series headed up by Chopped judge Aarón Sánchez, where he seeks out the best taco places across the United States. Here’s hoping he’s as brutally dismissive of bad taco chefs as he is of most of the contestants on Chopped.
The Real World on MTV at 10:00pm ET. 30th season premiere. The grandaddy of all reality shows is headed back to Chicago this season and the “twist” (they’ve started doing those because seven strangers picked to live in a house who stop being polite and start being real apparently isn’t as much of a draw as it used to be) is that they will have to live with someone from their past that they’ve “sworn off completely.” They’re calling it Real World: Skeletons because I guess The Real World: We Just Don’t Care About the Safety or Mental Well-Being of Our Cast Even a Little Bit was a bit lengthy.
Genevieve Burgess includes Jim Parsons actual parents in her above statement regarding the affection felt for him by Emmy voters.
