Madam Secretary on CBS at 8:00pm ET. I had been enjoying this series a bit up until last week, obviously its still working to find its legs but presenting a plot line in which a single grade in a college ethics course is portrayed as being more important than a man’s life (never mind the impossibility of that set-up happening in the first place) lost me a bit. Yes, obviously the position of Secretary of State is more important than being an ethics professor at Georgetown University, and when it’s a matter of national security you just put down the A and comfort yourself that you will literally never have to do that again. Why was this a thing?

Boardwalk Empire on HBO at 9:00pm ET.

The Walking Dead on AMC at 9:00pm ET. Fifth season premiere. I really enjoy the header image, because usually that kind of wardrobe disparity (one character in a jacket, the other character with bare arms and legs hanging out) is typically only seen between male and female characters. I’m happy that the wardrobe department of The Walking Dead have decided that Daryl’s guns are enough reason to cross the gender line on that one.

The Affair on Showtime at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is the show where Dominic West of The Wire and Ruth Wilson of Luther have an affair, because I guess if you run into someone else with that much FACE going on you just have to hook up with them. I don’t even think you can call that a beautiful couple, but an intensely jolie-laide couple.

Talking Dead on AMC at 10:01pm ET. Fourth season premiere. Hey, which one of you was asking for more Chris Hardwick on your TV? Wish granted!

Genevieve Burgess knows one should be very well armed during a zombie apocalypse, and appreciates all interpretations of this sentiment.
