Seriously, Guys, How Much Mastery Can You Handle?

2015 MTV Fandom Awards on MTV at 8:00pm ET. So, this is apparently how MTV is trying to stay relevant, by becoming Tumblr IRL. The “awards” such as they are have already been held, they’re just broadcasting them. So in case you care about who MTV considers the “Fandom of the Year” or “Ship of the Year” or “Feels Freak Out of the Year” then go ahead and tune in. But, like, there’s only 9 awards total listed on their website so how they plan to spend an hour on something that is just pure nonsense from top to bottom is beyond me. I guess lots of commercials?

True Detective on HBO at 9:00pm ET.

Ray Donovan on Showtime at 9:00pm ET. Third season premiere.

Masters of Sex on Showtime at 10:00pm ET. Third season premiere. I saw that Seven Days in Hell thing on HBO last night and I’m really glad I wasn’t into Masters of Sex before now because it’s going to take me a full month before I can look at Michael Sheen the same way again.

The Strain on FX at 10:00pm ET. Second season premiere. This show has completely fallen off my radar ever since they stopped running those super creepy eyeball ads. That doesn’t mean I want them to start again, just that so far those were the most interesting thing about the show. That’s not a great sign.

Genevieve Burgess is of the strong opinion that fandoms should be appreciated within themselves but not without.
