American Ninja Warrior on NBC at 8:00pm ET.

My Depression (The Up and Down and Up Of It) on HBO at 9:00pm ET. Based on Elizabeth Swados’s book of the same name, this 30 minute documentary uses animation and music to convey what her experience with depression was like.

Cuban Chrome on Discovery at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new series based in Havana that documents the shops that still restore the 1950s era cars that were left in Cuba before the revolution. It claims to be the first American television series ever shot entirely in Cuba and they may not be wrong. It took them a year to get permission to do this show. The relationship between the US and Cuba began to thaw as they were filming so that’s all included in the series. It sounds really interesting even though I’m not particularly a car person.

Murder in the First on TNT at 10:00pm ET.

Running Wild with Bear Grylls on NBC at 10:01pm ET. Second season premiere. Tonight’s episode features Kate Hudson so if you ever really wanted to see Penny Lane eat bugs tonight is your big chance.

Genevieve Burgess appreciates that eating bugs is occasionally necessary and/or a good cheap source of protein that’s widely available. It’s still being used for shock value here, though.
