Showtime at the Apollo on Fox at 8:00pm ET. Tonight they’re featuring Chaka Khan, T.I, Meek Mill, Quavo & Rara, Gabriel Iglesias, and Mike Epps.
Madiba: Part 1 on BET at 8:00pm ET. Original mini-series premiere. From what I’m reading, this six-hour miniseries is focusing on the earlier efforts of Nelson Mandela, his time in the early 60s leading up to his arrest and soon after. Laurence Fishburne is playing Mandela, and the source material is the books Conversations with Myself and Nelson Mandela by Himself. Laurence Fishburne is an excellent actor and I hope he does a great job with this, but whenever biopics of Mandela come up, I am uncomfortably aware that the contemporary actor who mostly closely resembles Mandela is Cuba Gooding Jr. Well, between him and Jidenna, but I don’t think Jidenna acts.
The 100 on The CW at 9:00pm ET. Fourth season premiere.
The Expanse on SyFy at 10:00pm ET. Two-hour, second season premiere. This is one of those shows that, when I hear two sentences about it, I think “Oh, that sounds interesting!” and when I hear more than two sentences about it, my eyes start to glaze over. Given that this episode is two hours long, that’s not a good sign for it holding my attention.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FXX at 10:00pm ET.
