The Fate of The World Rests in the Hands of A Hapless White Dude. How is This a Comedy?
Black-ish on ABC at 9:00pm ET. Fourth season premiere. The new episode is called “Juneteenth,” which is a holiday I know about mostly because I live in D.C and it’s an official district holiday here. Like, there are actually events and stuff, not “Some guy reads a piece of paper in the local government” kinda thing.
The Mayor on ABC at 9:30pm ET. Series premiere. A struggling hip-hop artist runs for mayor of his town in order to promote his career in entertainment. He then wins the election and actually has to govern. This sounds really suspiciously familiar to something else that happened on TV last fall.
Kevin (Probably) Saves the World on ABC at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. Jason Ritter stars as a down on his luck normal guy who finds out that god means for him to save the world via an angelic companion that appears only to him. Man, the symptoms of schizophrenia sure sound like wacky-fun sitcom material if you just use the right angle for them, don’t they?
Queen Sugar on OWN at 10:00pm ET. Second season fall premiere.
Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders on NBC at 10:01pm ET.
