Most Notable Return From The Dead: Jeremy Sisto's Career
The Bachelor on ABC at 8:00pm ET. 19th season finale. Have we finally reached the point where we can stop pretending normal people go on reality shows? Even if someone relatively sane and well-adjusted suddenly disregarded all cultural knowledge of how these things work and decided to try out for one because it sounded interesting or fun, they’d never make it through casting since they seem to pick people who will make “good TV.” So everyone’s either delusional, attempting to advance their own career as a Z-list celebrity, or a combination of both of those things.
Bates Motel on A&E at 9:00pm ET. Third season premiere.
Jane the Virgin on The CW at 9:00pm ET. Back from its brief hiatus! There’s another break coming over the end of this month, but at least we’ve got it this week and next week.
Better Call Saul on AMC at 10:00pm ET.
The Returned on A&E at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. So this is the official US adaptation of the French series The Returned or Les Revanants. I’ve seen some commercials that seem to make it all much more dramatic, or scarier, and I am not at all convinced that the people in charge of this recognize or appreciate the quiet, creeping, dread that was done so well in the original series so I have little hope for it. The original series is excellent from top to bottom, and this will particularly suffer for not having the Mogwai soundtrack that made the French version so haunting. I’ll still watch, just in case.
Genevieve Burgess wonders why we can’t just let people rising from the dead be regular disturbing instead of having to add in a bunch of other weird shit.
