It's So Awkward When You Have Perfect Skin and Hair, Right Guys?

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on The CW at 8:00pm ET.

Supergirl on CBS at 8:00pm ET.

Awkward on MTV at 9:00pm ET. One hour fifth season fall finale. I’ve seen the lead actress for this show and let me take a moment to address a Hollywood convention about “awkward” girls in High School; I don’t mind that some of them are conventionally pretty. BUT! But, a lot of socially awkward/nerdy girls who WERE pretty in high school got overlooked because they lacked any makeup/hair skills, ability to pick flattering clothing, or confident body language. If you’re gonna throw Emma Stone up as your “awkward high school girl” with perfect hair and makeup and tight fitted outfits in every scene, it doesn’t scan. (Love you, Easy A, but I had to say it.) That is the thing The Breakfast Club got VERY RIGHT with Ally Sheedy’s character; put an otherwise pretty girl in bad hair, no makeup, baggy clothing, and hunch her shoulders, and it’s a lot easier to buy that she’s on the outer rim of the social circles. Attractiveness in teenagers is about 95% confidence, 5% actual looks.

History Special: Bigfoot Captured on History at 9:00pm ET. Spoiler alert! Nope.

Fargo on FX at 10:00pm ET. Can we talk for a moment about how perfect the last scene of last week was? I guess it’s easy to forget that Kristen Dunst is actually a pretty great actress when you mostly know her from Bring It On but Patrick Wilson, Jesse Plemons, and Dunst all played that scene so well and with so much informing it that it was just perfect. I can’t wait to see what they follow it up with. Tomorrow night, because my basic cable subscription does not include FX so I get to watch it with a friend a day later on demand.
