Is This the First Reality Show Turned Big-Budget Musical?
Masterchef on Fox at 8:00pm ET.
Duck Dynasty: Duck Commander on A&E at 9:00pm ET. This isn’t the start of the new season, but rather an episode dedicated to the production of the musical Duck Commander based on the 2012 book of the same name about the Robertson family. It opened and closed in Las Vegas this year. I have seen the word “flop” used. There’s something temptingly absurd about the concept of a musical based around duck hunting but not quite enough to make me actually watch.
Skin Wars on GSN at 9:00pm ET. I asked questions about this last week and, lovely readers, one of you was able to answer from personal experience. I have to tell you that things like that are what makes all my blathering about television worthwhile.
TLC Special: Born Without Limbs on TLC at 9:00pm ET. It occurs to me that if all of TLC’s reality series were titled the way their medical specials were, they probably wouldn’t be nearly as popular and TLC may have been spared some problems in the last year or so. I mean, who would watch “Baby Obsessed Religious Fundamentalists” or “Extremely Poor Family With Very Little Education”?
Ripper Street on BBCA at 10:00pm ET. Third season finale.
Genevieve Burgess has always been impressed by the variety of life experiences the Pajibans have, and how people of vastly different circumstances can build a community through shared rage at minor grammatical errors.
