Is it Natural to Distrust Shows That Look Too Good?

Arrow on The CW at 8:00pm ET.

Empire on Fox at 9:00pm ET. I’ll be honest, I haven’t been keeping up with the second half of this season. It looks terribly dramatic but I have no sense of any narrative arc. They’re fighting over a record label again, aren’t they?

Supernatural on The CW at 9:00pm ET. I presume this is still on the air mostly so that Tumblr can make new gifs from it.

The Americans on FX at 10:00pm ET.

The Last Panthers on Sundance at 10:00pm ET. I keep seeing previews for this that make it look really good and Luther-esque, but I don’t trust them because usually I hear the Brits rumbling about their really good TV shows for a few months before they hit stateside and I haven’t heard anything about this. Also, the title is too good, I write about TV all the time and do you know how few shows actually have good titles? It’s like they figured out the title and worked backwards. Most of the time it’s like they picked it via dartboard. But Samantha Morton wouldn’t steer me wrong. Would she? Do I even get Sundance? Do any of you? What is television?
