America’s Next Top Model on The CW at 8:00pm ET. Tonight’s episode is called “The Girl Who Has a Close Shave” so I’m going to bet that someone is losing their hair tonight so if you like to watch strangers cry as they are stripped of their superficial markers of beauty, you are in luck.
The Carmichael Show on NBC at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new family sitcom series from comedian Jerrod Carmichael who I have actually seen perform at the Improve in DC. His parents are played by Loretta Devine and David Alan Grier and in the show his character’s girlfriend is a therapist in training. I can only fear the kind of hijinks we are in for.
Suits on USA at 9:00pm ET. Fifth season summer finale.
Key & Peele on Comedy Central at 10:00pm ET.
Mr.Robot on USA at 10:00pm ET. First season finale. I just shotgunned a bunch of episodes of this via On Demand (I was still behind from my vacation) and the weirdest thing about doing that is that while the show is excellent and dark and thoughtful, you still get exactly the same ads you do on every other USA show. So you’d move from a scene of complex character development and knockout performances straight into back to back ads for Chili’s and kids clothing. It was jarring to say the least, especially when you’re watching three episodes in a row. Anyway, this was already renewed for a second season so don’t get too worried tonight. About the show at least, individual characters I can’t tell you want to think. (NOTE: As of 4:42pm ET it’s been announced that USA will be holding the finale for a week because “The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time” Tonight will be a repeat of last week’s episode.)
