Arrow on The CW at 8:00pm ET.

The Mentalist on CBS at 8:00pm ET.

Empire on Fox at 9:01pm ET. I have to tell you, shows about music and musicians can hit the mark pretty frequently when it comes to actually creating songs that sound good. But I’ve been humming “No Apologies” since I heard it, so they’re doing pretty well with that. Also, I checked out the play The Lion in Winter from the library so I’m comparing a bit as I go, and so far I’ve noticed that as baller as Eleanor of Aquitaine was (and make no mistake, y’all, she was pretty goddamn baller) I have yet to read anything that indicates that her lipstick game was as on point as Cookie’s.

The Americans on FX at 10:00pm ET. Third season premiere. I had been watching this and I feel like I stopped because it was shot in such a way that low-light scenes were basically pitch black and I could never figure out what was happening. I know that’s a petty reason to not watch a show. I know I can probably adjust my TV to account for it. It still bugs me enough that I’ll just stop watching. Sorry. Maybe I’ll try again one day. And this is Hannibal’s official warning that they’re on notice for this particular sin.

Suits on USA at 10:00pm ET. Fourth season winter premiere.

Genevieve Burgess will henceforth enjoy referring to King John of England as “basically the Justin Bieber of the 12th century.”
