5 Shows After Dark: I Have Seen the Future, and It Is Migraine-Inducing

Almost Human on Fox at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. Basically the TV series version of the Will Smith I Robot in that a detective in the future is forced to work with a robot he hates, because he hates all robots, even though he himself has a robotic limb. At the very least this show will be beautiful to look at, since it stars Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, and Minka Kelly, and features Lili Taylor and Mackenzie Crook. Down-side: the series is executive produced by J.J Abrams and is set in the future so dig out your lens-flare eliminating glasses unless you enjoy being right on the edge of a migraine.

Catch a Christmas Star on Hallmark at 8:00pm ET. Original telefilm. I’ve said it before, and I can’t take credit for it, but I’d really like it if people backed off the whole concept of the “War on Christmas” and instead addressed the fact that Christmas is pulling a hostile takeover of Thanksgiving.

Homeland on Showtime at 9:00pm ET.

The Walking Dead on AMC at 9:00pm ET.

Eastbound & Down on HBO at 10:00pm ET. Series finale. Time to say goodbye to Kenny Powers. I’m sure HBO will help your love live on forever in the form of a commemorative Blu-Ray set, though.

Genevieve Burgess has stocked up on the Excedrin specifically for the two-night “Almost Human” premiere.
