For the Variety Show-Shaped Hole in Your Life

Bones on Fox at 8:00pm ET. Ninth season finale. Just in case you were at all worried, the series has already been renewed and will return for a tenth season. Somewhat impressive when you consider it had been banished to the Friday night “I think we should see other people” spot, but also a bit of a let down when you realize that it got the “I don’t know what I was thinking, baby!” promotion due to the bungling of Almost Human, which was cancelled to the disappointment of some.

Warehouse 13 on SyFy at 9:00pm ET. Series finale.

Louie on FX at 10:00pm ET.

RuPaul’s Drag Race on Logo at 10:00pm ET. Sixth season finale. Sometimes I get really sad that I can’t stand the reality show format and start to throw things at the television when forced to watch more than a few episodes. This show is something that inspires that feeling.

The Maya Rudolph Show on NBC at 10:01pm ET. One hour special presentation. This is the pilot of Maya Rudolph’s shot at a variety show, and I guess if enough people tune in it could become a weekly series. I’m a bit young to have been around for the heyday of variety shows, but I know there’s plenty of you out there who probably have fond memories of them. Frankly, it’s probably worth tuning in just to see the Janelle Monae musical number.

Genevieve Burgess should probably be more worried that she thinks of television scheduling in relationship terms.
