American Idol on Fox at 8:00pm ET. 14th season premiere.
Empire on Fox at 9:01pm ET. Series premiere. This is Fox’s new family drama that happens to take place within the music industry, so it should be fun for me to watch well going “Well, that’s not right” like a humorless spoilsport. Actually, I’m pretty sure there will be barely any real discussion of how the music industry works, given that the whole focus seems to be on family drama. This means that whatever they do drop in is even less likely to be right. All the lawyers out there now are like “Welcome to our world.”
Black-ish on ABC at 9:31pm ET. First season winter premiere. I’ll be honest, I booted the People’s Choice Awards for this because I’m certain this will be more enjoyable. Laurence Fishburne is back this week!
American Horror Story on FX at 10:00pm ET.
Hindsight on VH1 at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new series where a woman manages to travel back to 1995 in order to correct mistakes in her personal life to (hopefully) have a better future. Things she apparently doesn’t do (as far as the promos indicate): warn anyone of impending disasters, buy Apple stock, or have a nervous breakdown the first time she tries to load a website at 1995 speeds. Also; here’s your reminder that 1995 was 20 years ago now, and that my sister who was born that year is currently in her sophomore year of college. Cheers!
Genevieve Burgess remembers 1995 fondly as it was the year she got a sister AND hit five feet tall.
