Arrow on The CW at 8:00pm ET.
Madoff on ABC at 8:00pm ET. Original miniseries premiere. I understand why a lot of movies and series are being made about the financial crisis right now, because it was a big fucking deal and there’s a lot of people that should be held responsible for essentially vaporizing billions of dollars worth of equity for average people thanks to hubris, but I just can’t see any of it being interesting enough to hold viewers. It’s just doesn’t make for compelling stories unless you really know what they’re talking about. Madoff is something of an edge case here, but I still don’t see this working out well for ABC.
Nova: Creatures of Light on PBS at 9:00pm ET. This is about bioluminescent sea critters, which should be particularly mesmerizing to look at even if it’s unlikely to have a lot of new information in it. Sometimes that’s all we want from nature shows; soothing videos of pretty animals. Although with all deep-sea explorations, this has the potential to turn horrifying very quickly. The depths of the sea harbor some alarmingly unpleasant-looking critters.
American Crime on ABC at 10:00pm ET.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FXX at 10:00pm ET.
