Arrow on The CW at 8:00pm ET.

The Casual Vacancy on HBO at 8:00pm ET. Mini-series premiere. This is a three-part adaptation of J.K Rowling’s novel of the same name, and two parts of it are airing tonight. From early reviews it seems to be a kind of feint at the “cozy mysteries” that make you suspect that all charming British villages are seething hotbeds of violence and debauchery but with a slight edge on the class warfare aspect of it all. So, you know, sounds like fun! Or something not quite fun but not quite entirely unpleasant, I guess.

Chicago PD on NBC at 9:00pm ET. The big NBC shows tonight are having some kind of crossover-palooza so get ready to get some Law and Order: SVU in your Chicago PD and some Chicago PD in your Law and Order: SVU. I’m sure that’s super exciting for like a dozen people in the NBC marketing department who have a new way to market Rape TV this week.

Ripper Street on BBCA at 10:00pm ET. Third season premiere.

Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman on Science Channel at 10:00pm ET. Sixth season premiere. So I know they like attention grabbing topics but tonight’s “Are We All Bigots?” is sort of uncomfortably timely with what’s going on in Baltimore. Although, I guess it’s always sort of uncomfortably timely, because we as a nation are generally uncomfortable with racial issues.

Genevieve Burgess will still take Baltimore over those creepy British towns any day and twice on Sundays.
