MTV Special: White People on MTV at 8:00pm ET. Special presentation. There’s been a lot of speculation about what this special will entail. I don’t have high hopes, but I guess there’s always a chance that MTV manages to bring themselves around to actually say something interesting and intelligent. Then again, Catfish is on later the same night.
Home Free on Fox at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new reality series that’s supposed to be about nine families competing to win a new house by renovating a bunch of others. They’ve already given away the “twist” in the promo materials, which is that all of them are getting a house anyway. All of them also have sob stories, but I guess that’s a given, right?
Last Comic Standing on NBC at 9:00pm ET. Two hour ninth season premiere.
Sharknado 3 on SyFy at 9:00pm ET. Original telefilm. Sometimes I think the internet is basically the physical manifestation of that friend who always takes an inside joke just a little too far/repeats it just a bit too often. It went from unexpectedly funny, to mildly amusing, to something that feels increasingly like a desperate attention grab that’s more than a little bit embarrassing for everyone involved. But hey, maybe the third installment is where they really turn it around.
Key & Peele on Comedy Central at 10:00pm ET.
Genevieve Burgess thinks that the continued success of Sharknado is why sharks are beginning to fight back, but she could be wrong.
