5 Shows After Dark: Death is Not an Option

“Breaking Pointe” on The CW at 8:00pm ET. First season finale.

“The Choice” on Fox at 8:58pm ET. Because evidently even Fox can’t pretend that there’s 44 minutes of programming to squeeze out of “Take Me Out”. Guests of note tonight include Finesse Mitchell who always sounds like a fancy shampoo brand even though I know better, Steven Lopez who’s an Olympic medalist in taekwondo, and Rob Gronkowski who plays for the Patriots and is a habitual shirt remover. Also the male Kardashian, who evidently is just barely interesting enough to turn up on lots of other reality series but not interesting enough to warrant his own. Given the low bar set by his sisters, that’s not something he should be proud of.

“Wipeout” on ABC at 9:00pm ET.

“Awkward” on MTV at 10:30pm ET. The episode title tonight is “Sex, Lies, and the Sanctuary” and I’m not sure what that means in the context of the show, but in the context of ME, I saw the show title and episode title without noticing the colon and went “huh, MTV has a new show called ‘Awkward Sex’? That seems more like an HBO thing.” and then I learned to read again. I know that’s not actually interesting, but summer TV isn’t giving me a lot to work with.

“Louie” on FX at 10:30pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess hates summer television just as much as it hates her.
