5 Shows After Dark: It's This, Isn't It? This is Why You're Watching. I Get That.
“2012 Olympic Team Trials” on NBC at 7:00pm ET. There’s Olympic trials all night on NBC, swimming and women’s gymnastics. Lots of spandex on parade, basically.
“BET Awards 2012” on BET at 8:00pm ET. Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, because why wouldn’t you get Sam Jackson to host if he was available? I found it interesting that on the page listing the performers they sort of buried the more well known artists like Nicki Minaj and Usher near the bottom of the page and gave prime position to Melanie Fiona and Yolanda Adams. Well, interesting or a poor design choice on the part of their website team.
“True Blood” on HBO at 9:00pm ET. Reading the recaps of this show the last couple of seasons is like reading something written in a language close to English but not quite the same. I read the first Dead Before Dark book and was like “Ok, telepath, vampires, shape shifters, I got it.” And then they added Werewolves and I was still like “Ok, I’m on the same page, mostly.” but now there’s like witches and fairies and ghosts and is ANYONE in Bon Temps human anymore? Does it make sense if you actually watch the show instead of dropping in on an episode here and there and read recaps online for the parts you missed? I’m thinking not.
“Newsroom” on HBO at 10:00pm ET.
“Weeds” on Showtime at 10:00pm ET. Eighth season premiere.
Genevieve Burgess does not appreciate your sass. (That’s a lie.)
