5 Shows After Dark: Prison Sucks
“Behind the Music: Brandy” on VH1 at 9:00pm ET. Fifth season finale.
“Locked Up Abroad” on National Geographic Channel at 10:00pm ET. Sixth season premiere. I understand part of the appeal of this show is watching cocky first-world teenagers get their comeuppance but let’s be honest, you don’t need to go to Thailand to see (largely) young white Americans get outraged about how you’re treated when you’re arrested. Any run of the mill frat party that gets busted will provide you with plenty of people yelling about police harassment and spouting off legal terms that were copped from the most recent “Law and Order” marathon topped off with vague threats about who their parents may or may not know.
“The Soup” on E at 10:00pm ET.
“South Park” on Comedy Central at 10:00pm ET. 16th season spring finale.
“Whitechapel” on BBCA at 10:00pm ET. Third season finale. This is the fifth episode of the third season, but also the season finale and I always laugh a little when they export British television series like this because it seems like just around the point American audiences are used to getting really interested in a show they’re all “Season finale! See you all in like a year or so.” I’m not saying one method is better than the other, they both have their flaws whether it’s the “shit, we have 24 episodes to fill so… let’s do an alternate universe episode!” of “Grey’s Anatomy” or the “all the season’s major plot lines converge on the world’s most depressing garden party” wrap up of “Downton Abbey’s” first season.
Genevieve Burgess does not appreciate your sass. (That’s a lie.)
