5 Shows After Dark

“Community” on NBC at 8:00pm ET.

“Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC at 9:00pm ET. The good news over here is that it appears we’re back to weekly episodes until the finale so no more weird one week or two week breaks between new episodes. The bad news is, of course, this is still “Grey’s Anatomy” and the writing is still mostly soap opera trying to make itself look fancy and smart with some medical-ish terminology. Oh, Christina Yang, the things I do for love.

“Up All Night” on NBC at 9:31pm ET. First season finale.

“Sweet Genius” on Food Network at 10:00pm ET. This show seems like it’d be something I’d love, but every time I see the host in a commercial I expect him to ask me “Is it safe?” Dessert should not be fraught with creepiness.

“Scandal” on ABC at 10:02pm ET. I watched the first episode of this, finally, and when Columbus Short showed up I literally went “LEGLESS POOCH!” in my house, by myself because I’m awesome like that. Anyway, it’s got potential, but it’s also got potential to turn into a show about a bunch of very attractive people sleeping with each other with only a nodding acknowledgement of their jobs which are supposed to be the show’s focus, a la “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Genevieve Burgess has two degrees and far too much time on her hands.
