“The River” on ABC at 9:00pm ET. First season finale.
“Fashion Star” on NBC at 10:00pm ET. One episode in and there’s already some bad press flying about how the retailers ran out of the promised items so quickly that people who had successfully placed an order had to have their order refunded because the stock wasn’t available. Obviously this was just an unfortunate situation and not at all intentional to snag news and encourage fans to hover over the website like vultures waiting to strike the minute the products go on sale. Yup.
“Justified” on FX at 10:00pm ET.
“Southland” on TNT at 10:00pm ET. Fourth season finale.
“Storage Wars Texas” on A&E at 10:00pm ET. I realize that all reality shows operate on this premise, but the times I’ve seen this show it seems so much more obviously devoted to the whole “show something happening, cut to person in that scene explaining what happened, show the scene again with the person reacting, cut back to an interview where they replicate that reaction, etc.” pattern. It’s like television for people with short term memory loss. Or a training tool for people who are unable to accurately identify nuance and emotion in the moment, since everything is explained immediately afterwards.
