Not that we really even need this, and not that it was a surprise, but Stan Lee has given his endorsement to the idea of casting Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson in an interview with the Toronto Sun, saying:
“If she is as good an actress as I hear she is, I think it’ll be absolutely wonderful.”Lee, who created the character to begin with, seems to only care about how well she performs in the role and not her ethnic background, even though the internet thinks they could do a better job with the casting.
Not unlike when Stephen King gave his enthusiastic support for the casting of Idris Elba as Roland in the upcoming Dark Tower film and TV series, it’s likely we’ll still hear a lot of moaning from a segment of the audience who still thinks they own the character more than Lee or King do.
All these nerds are so upset over Spider-Man canon like they think the MCU is Earth-616 and not Earth-199999 and thus its own canon. Nerds!
In other Gorgeous Ladies Of the Spectacular Spider-verse (GLOSS) news, is anyone else as excited as I am that SpiderGwen will be making her first on-screen appearance in the new season of Ultimate Spider-Man?!
Riley Silverman isn’t going to confirm that she owns both a SpiderGwen hooded sweatshirt and a hooded tank top but she won’t deny it either.
