Chris Evans Confirms 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Rumors, and Says Keep Your Hands off My Captain America Shield

All those rumors of Chris Evans leaving the Captain America franchise, and handing off his shield to Bucky Barnes have just been shot down. Though the actor has previously talked about quitting acting to direct, he seems to be enjoying Steve Rogers’ adventures too much to leave.

In comments that address those Avengers: Age of Ultron spoilers/rumors about a certain ending (or post-credits) scene featuring the Cap (whited out for possible spoilers, swipe to see): assembling a new team that may carry over to Captain America 3 (end spoilers), Evans told MTV:

“Marvel doesn’t disappoint. Whatever you’re hoping for, you’re probably going to get.”

But when asked if it was true he might be handing off Captain America’s shield to another character — possibly either Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes or Anthony Mackie’s Falcon — Evans was pretty clear he’s not going anywhere:

“Who’s handing off the shield? Don’t take my job from me prematurely dude…not yet. I’ve got a few more movies I’ve got to finish first — which I’m happy to do. I’m sure it’ll happen at some point, all good things have to come to an end. But I’m really happy playing the character.”

So there you have it, folks. And never let it be said that I missed an opportunity to post this gif:
