The one thing about the reality of our impending Trump presidency is that it hasn’t dulled the sense of humor of The Daily Show’s Hasan Minhaj, who made news back in June when he obliterated Congress as host of Radio and Television Correspondent’s Dinner. But that sense of humor is now being cut with a real sense of fear, fear for himself, fear for his Muslim friends, and fear for his mother — a U.S. citizen who has lived here for 30 years — who he’s legitimately afraid will not be able to return to this country after a visit abroad to take care of her mother.

We may see a lot of this brand of comedy over the next four years, the kind that provokes laughter, fear and sobbing. “Ha ha ha, that’s hilarious, but Oh God! What if he’s right?”
