Yes, Jon Stewart Made a Cameo on Stephen Colbert's First 'Late Show'

Stephen Colbert kicked off his inaugural Late Show last night by demonstrating what he’s all about: He’s patriotic; he has a middle-America sensibility and an East Coast sense of humor; he’s got a helluva singing voice; and he loves America. He also gave a cameo to the man who helped put him on the map: Jon Stewart.

Keep an eye on the catcher. Applaud accordingly.

Colbert also did his diligence by not only paying tribute to Letterman, but proving that he understands Letterman by also thanking his old stage manager, Biff Henderson.

It almost feels wrong for anyone other than Kimmel to honor Letterman in this way, but Colbert pulls it off in such a way that I actually believe the sincerity of the tribute.

I miss the hell out of Stewart and Letterman, but I think this Colbert guy is going to do just fine.

p.s. My one criticism of the first show: That set is awfully bright for a late-night show. It’s like I’m looking at an iPhone screen.
